The Best Things To See & Do When Visiting Guam
Guam is the most southern of the Mariana Islands and is a tropical oasis about 1,600 miles to the east of Manila in the Philippines. Travellers to this part of the world can enjoy beautiful beaches, clear waters, and picture-perfect blue skies, and there are a load of things to experience when you visit. Below are some of the most popular things to see and do when you visit the beautiful island of Guam.
A Visit To Two Lover`s Point
If you stay in one of the hotels in Guam in the Tumon Bay area, then you will be able to walk to Two Lover`s Point, which offers spectacular views of the island and its coast from the cliff tops. There is a legend which says that two lovers leapt to their deaths from here, which is where the name comes from, and when you are there you will find a few shops and café.
A Walk To Alupat Island
Tumon Bay is also home to Alupat Island, which is a short distance from the coast. When the tide is low you can walk there, which will take you roughly about 15 minutes, alternatively, you could also hire a kayak. There is a small beach when you get there, but the rest of the island is covered with thick foliage, but it may be an excellent way to kill an hour or two and enjoy some exercise.
Enjoy An Idyllic Beach
If crystal clear blue water and white sandy beaches are your thing, then you will not be disappointed when you take a visit to Ritidian Point. Ritidian Point is in the northernmost part of the island, and although you may be able to cycle there, it may be too far to walk, so you may need to take a taxi. If you arrange a tour of the island, then this is one attraction which is usually included.
Underwater World
Another popular attraction which is also located in Tumon Bay is Underwater World, which is home to thousands of different marine animals and plants. You will be able to marvel at the sharks, rays, turtles, and giant groupers as you walk through your underwater safari. You can go diving in one of the tanks and get up close and personal with the wildlife, and you can also enjoy a meal in the restaurant viewing the wildlife in their natural habitat.
A Little Bit Of Shopping
You may also want to enjoy a bit of shopping, and the island has a few malls that you can explore, including the Micronesia Mall. It is also an excellent place to eat with a wide variety of different cuisines from around the world available in the food court. It is also a superb way to cool down if the weather outside is getting too hot for you.
